I've been busy these past days 08/24/2011
So on Monday school started again.
I've been really busy going to class and preparing for this semester. So far my professors are really nice. My Math (Algebra for College Students) starts at 8:00 in the morning and ends at 8:50 AM while my English starts at 9:15 in the morning and it ends at 10:30 AM. In Algebra, we are into Functions right now. Getting to know what function is and identifying if a set of ordered pairs are are function or not. It's kind of easy. I learned this when I was in high school. It is still fresh in my mind. In English, what we did was just read the syllabus; what to expect on this class, what to do and what not. This class will really be about writing essays. I am not looking forward to it since I have a phobia writing essays especially when there are requirements such as word count and number of pages minimum. Add Comment Foster Botanical Garden, Honolulu, Hawaii 08/22/2011
I went to the Foster Botanical Garden today.
Located in the heart of Honolulu, Hawaii, the Foster Botanical Garden is a great hideaway for those seeking to escape the urban and city life of Honolulu. It contains thousands of plants and trees. Many of them are from all over the world. They have the Eve's Apple Tree which is a tree found in India and Sri Lanka. The Crown-of-Thorns, originally from Madagascar, located near a rest area in wowed my fellow visitors because of their gorgeous, reddish flowers. The Millionaire's Salad from Seychelles was a really weird name for a palm tree. What to do with my paycheck? 08/06/2011
So, I just got my first paycheck for working 39 hours in two weekdays.
I was really looking forward to this because I get to see the real picture of what I am really getting. I get a net pay of $230.02 out of the 312.00 gross. Federal withholding took a huge slice of the pie at $52.45. The Federal Income Contributions Act got $13.10. Medicare got $4.52. Hawaii withholding got $10.74 and Hawaii disability got $1.17. If you add all the deductions I got, you'd get a total of $81.98! That's freaking huge for a part-time employee like me. I am not sad, I know why it went down. I added $30 to the Federal withholding. My father told me to do so. He argued that I will get the money back from my Federal Income Tax Return which will arrive in almost a year from now. I got approved for a credit card! 07/31/2011
I got my first approval of a credit card today.
I went to Ala Moana Center and headed to a Sears store intending on just buying a pants and a short. After finding what I wanted, I went to the cashier and was asked if I want to try my chance on getting a credit approval from Sears. I said yes and the nice lady processed my account smoothly. The lady was fa graduate from the same high school as I and we chatted a bit. She tried me to apply for the Sears MasterCard but I the process was stopped for some reason that we did not know. Shen then tried signing me up with the Sears Card. I got approved with a $3000 credit limit. Busy with school and work 07/30/2011
I started college 6 weeks ago and it is going great.
My Chemistry and English classes are making my first experience of college great. I am doing good on both classes. For Chemistry class, I am getting a B right now which is pretty good for me since I am not that good in science when I was in high school. My efforts in my English Class is getting me a B so far. I damaged my Syma S107 R/C helicopter 06/20/2011
I have been with my Syma S107 R/C helicopter for quite a while now. I bought in online from Amazon.com after it went on sale at $20.00. I had great time enjoying this new found hobby. This remote controlled helicopter can hover up to 3o feet. It is a good entry-level training helicopter. I am a beginner on remote controlled things and this certainly I got my Syma S107 R/C helicopter today 06/11/2011
After 5 days of waiting for my Syma S107 Remote Controlled helicopter it finally arrived today. It came in a big box from Amazon.com warehouse. The package was very secure and the merchandise was undamaged. What are you talking about:
So I was interested of buying an radio controlled helicopter today from someone I know at Bacolodnon.com after he posted a video of him playing the Syma S107/S107G R/C helicopter. Participated at the 20th Honolulu AIDS Walk 04/18/2011
Yesterday I participated on Life Foundation's 20th Honolulu AIDS Walk. I was one of the 5000 walkers to circle Kapiolani Park near Waikiki beach. This annual walk raises fund to support Life Foundation’s free services for people living with HIV/AIDS on Oahu, as well as free HIV testing and education services. The foundation's goal was $200, 000. As of now the foundation have raised $197, 000, short of $3, 000 of their goal. They are still accepting donations though so if you want to help go ahead to Life Foundation. I went with my club. I raised $100 so I also got a very cool T-Shirt. This is my first time doing this kind of activity and was so very excited. I will definitely do this again. Great experience. The only problem I encountered was that there were not that much food booths. Only one can be considered a food booth. The other was selling snacks. The volunteers did gave us some water, an orange, and a banana to eat after the walk. I and my group then decided to go to Downtown Honolulu and eat at McDonald's near WalMart. I got a McTeri Burger meal and also a free ice cream cone (got a coupon from the event). Someone's in a good mood today 04/10/2011
Got this new phone from my family. I have been stuck with the LG Prime for many months now and maybe they sensed that I needed a new phone. So this new phone I got is the SamSung A817 Solstice II(2). This phone is pretty unique. It has all the features on my old phone. The only thing that pisses me off with this phone is that it doesn't have a headphone jack. How would I listen to my favorite music now? Hmmm.... Another flaw about this phone is that the MicroSD is in the back with the battery. Oh well got it for free so no complaint. They got it from AT&T for free. I am still learning how to operate it. I might an add internet subscription. The 2 GB plan would be a good starter to test how reliable AT&T's internet connection.
